About Communities In Schools

The mission of Communities In Schools of North Texas (CISNT) is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CISNT emphasizes five core tenets that are the foundation of all of our work. Our five core beliefs include the importance of a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult, a safe place to learn and grow, a healthy start and a healthy future, a markable skill upon graduation, and a chance to give back to peers and community. 

About the Program 

Communities In School at Parkway elementary offers basic need services, academic enrichment, and behavior support through mentors, lunch groups, and school wide activities. Below are services provided here at Parkway. 

  • Academic Lunch Groups
  • One on One Mentoring
  • Character/Self Esteem
  • Parent Resources
  • Parent Referrals
  • Parent Information Events

 

How Can Students Benefit from CIS?

Academics:

  • Students who need tutoring or help with completing homework
  • Students who need academic encouragement and support
  • Attendance: Students who are not coming to school

Social Service Needs:

  • Students who need: School supplies, Clothing, and Food

Behavior:

  • Students who could use support in the following areas:
    • Self-Esteem
    • Social Skills
    • Anger Management
    • Dealing with a family crisis
