Counseling
Hello! I am Mrs. Walker, the school counselor for the Parkway family! I am so excited to meet each of you and support the exciting learning that will happen this year. As your counselor, I am here to walk with both students and families through the elementary school experience and ensure it is a time filled with lasting joyful memories and useful tools for success. I will be teaching students social-emotional skills that prepare students for building self-confidence and positive connections with others. I am also a link to other community resources and opportunities. If there is a need, I will find the answer!
A little bit about me: I was born and raised in Flower Mound. After graduation, I attended Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio for a bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology and Minor in Spanish. There, I met my now husband who pulled me to his home state of New York where I attended the University of Rochester. There I received my Master’s in School Counseling and earned my School Counselor certification. We are blessed with 2 sons who like watching the Buffalo Bills play football, Go Bills!, and love exploring and learning just as much as I do! We enjoy hiking, kayaking, picnicking, and spending time with friends and family.
In the past 5 years, I have been a school counselor for students of all grade levels and backgrounds Pre-K to 12th grade. These years are so formative, and I believe it is important to prioritize joy and exploration. With this comes confidence and creativity. There’s no better time to start exploring than right here at Parkway! Let’s go on an adventure 😀
Please feel free to reach out to me at any point, even just to say hello!
WHY REFER YOUR CHILD TO SEE ME?
Here are some reasons why a parent or guardian may want to refer their child for counselor check-ins:
-
attitude toward school or academic growth
-
personal development
-
relationships with peers
