Dyslexia is a disorder of constitutional origin manifested by a difficulty in learning to read, write, or spell; despite conventional instruction, adequate intelligence, and sociocultural opportunity.
The program used in Lewisville Independent School District is the Multisensory Teaching Approach or MTA. The MTA program is a comprehensive curriculum that places primary emphasis on the 85 % of the English Language that is phonetically reliable for reading and spelling. There are four major areas of study: alphabet and dictionary skills, reading, spelling, and cursive handwriting.
